Martha Stewart best hamburgers modified

 Best Beef Burger

I've modified this recipe slightly. I use only one pound of ground beef so I use half the ingredients of the original recipe.
I've been making burgers like this for years. They just don't taste right unless I make them this way.

Prep Time:
5 mins
Total Time:
25 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 pounds ground chuck

  • 1½ teaspoons yellow mustard

  • 1½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

  • Coarse salt and pepper or Lawry's seasoned salt

  • 4 hamburger buns

Directions

  1. Heat grill to high. In a medium bowl, use a fork to gently combine beef, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce; season with salt and pepper. Gently form mixture into four 1-inch-thick patties.

  2. Place patties on hottest part of grill; sear until browned, 1 to 2 minutes per side. Move patties to cooler part of grill; continue grilling until desired doneness, 4 to 8 minutes per side.

  3. Split the hamburger buns and toast on the grill if you like; place a burger on each bun and serve with the desired accompaniments.

Variations

Suggested accompaniments: cheese slices, sliced beefsteak tomatoes, red and white onions(raw or grilled), ketchup, mustard, pickles, mayonnaise, Boston lettuce leaves

Beef Stroganoff

This recipe claims to cook in the same amount of time as the boxed helper.

Beef Stroganoff

1 lb. ground beef
1/2 bag of egg noodles (any size – I’ve used small and extra wide)
1/2 onion, chopped (go ahead and chop the rest and throw it in a bag in the freezer for a future recipe – no chopping required!)
1 box of beef stock
1 cup of sour cream
In a large skillet, brown the beef and the onion. Drain off any excess oil. Add egg noodles and beef stock. If beef stock doesn’t cover the noodles add enough water to cover them. Simmer until liquid is cooked out and noodles are done. Stir in sour cream. Turn off heat. Serve with bread and a green vegetable and viola! Dinner is served.
